Donors encouraged to adopt AISD teachers

Local citizens are encouraged to assist the AJHS Academic Booster Club in their efforts by “adopting” a local teacher.

Members of the AJSH Academic Booster Club formed a “Rise and Shine” committee last year to bless, encourage, and uplift the faculty and staff of the Albany Independent School District.

The group had such a great response for Christmas 2019 that they are inviting the public to participate in the second annual teacher/staff Christmas wish list event.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, the method to get wish lists out to the public has been revised.

“The committee has created a teacher/staff Christmas wish list event through SignUpGenius.com,” said Rise and Shine committee member Heather Brown. “This is a great opportunity to encourage the teachers/staff who love, care for, and educate our students each and every day.”

Several teachers have submitted requests, and although a few more are expected, the link has already been shared through various AISD and Academic Booster Club accounts.

The link can be found on the AJHS Facebook page, Rise & Shine Facebook page, Academic Booster Club page, and on the the AISD website.

There is a suggested $50 maximum gift limit, and all gifts will need to be wrapped and returned, if applicable, by Dec. 16.
