The Ragin’ Red Band competed in the Wylie Marching Contest on Saturday in Abilene, bringing home a Division I and two Division II ratings.

“It was the best run-through of the show that we have had so far,” director Will Vaughan said. “We received a lot of comments and suggestions from the judges that will be helpful as a guide as we continue to prepare for UIL marching contest.”

The band will return to Wylie High School Oct. 18 for the annual UIL marching contest. Albany will be the first band to march at 2:15 p.m.

The director said that the group continues to improve.

“We are getting close to getting Division I ratings, but we have to keep working,” he said. “We marched right after Irion County on Saturday, which didn’t help. They are really good and one of the top rated Class A bands.”

The band will meet next Monday, Oct. 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon to work with a clinician. That is a holiday from regular classes.

Vaughan said that the band will eat lunch at the Feed Store and participate in activities afterwards.
