The first 2022 distribution of government commodities is set for Thursday, Jan. 6 at the Moran City Hall, followed by another session on Friday, Jan. 7 for Albany residents behind the justice of the peace office at the Courthouse.

Families that are certified as eligible can pick up the January allotment between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at both locations.

Families that were certified for 2021 can still pick up during the January delivery; however, all participants were sent home an application for 2022 that must be returned when the items are picked up.

“Participants have to be recertified at the beginning of each year,” justice of the peace James Breeden said. “We sent the applications home with people the first week of December to be completed and returned.”

Breeden said that it is important that residents who apply provide any address changes, as well as verifying their annual income.

“We sent the forms out in early December, and they must be returned in order to pick up food in January,” he said.

Anyone new who wants to apply for the program can obtain an application at the JP office or at the Moran City Hall.

Regular recipients who are unable to pick up their commodities in person can send a signed and dated noted with someone to pick up the food for them.
