Commodities to be distributed

Pick-up dates for the May distribution of the commodity food program will be Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3. Eligible families in Moran should pick up their monthly commodity food at the Moran City Hall between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.

Albany High School recently announced honor students for the 2024 senior class, with Kiana Roberson named valedictorian and Sidney Russell salutatorian. Ten other seniors were named as honor students as part of the top 25 percent of the class, which has 48 members.

Roll-offs to be on site May 10-12

From Friday, May 10 to Sunday, May 12, local citizens will have the opportunity to get rid of large unwanted items at the annual “Weekend Trash Dump.” The City of Albany will provide large roll-offs to be located in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot. The cleanup, especially onandaround MainStreet, is an effort to beautify the town before visitors start arriving for Fandangle, according to council member Lynsi Musselman.

Veterans names needed soon

Persons interested in adding the name of a veteran toaadditionalmarker to be set on the courthouse square next to other monuments can do so for free if information is provided by May 15. The project is headed by Mary Kay O’Connor, who explained that two new monument stones have been ordered and paid for by donations.
