2 local all-star teams advance to final 4
All three Albany Little League All-Star teams played several rounds deep in the District 5 tournament last week, with two of the squads advancing to the fi nal four. The 12U team made it to the semifi nal round in the winners bracket before suffering their first loss to Wylie, 5-4, last Thursday.
3-week Day Camp to start next Monday
ResourceCare Summer Day Camp staff is preparing for the upcoming threeweek event that starts next Monday, July 9, and there is still room for more children to be included.
Local ranch hosts ChinaAid family camp
Thirty-five children from China and North Korea have spent the last week at Stasney’s Cook Ranch in Albany enjoying some rest and relaxation at a family retreat sponsored by ChinaAid.

The 80th anniversary edition of the Fort Griffin Fandangle officially concluded soon after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, with the traditional singing of “Prairie Land” by the entire cast, in front of an audience that included a large contingent of visitors from China, as well as U.S.
2018 football schedule revised
The Albany Lions football district schedule was reshuffled recently after Roby ISD announced in June that it doesn’t have enough players to field a varsity team in the fall.
The schedule originally set for members of District 7-2A Div.
Scores above average in 18 of 22 areas
Except for a few areas, Albany ISD end-of-course (EOC) and STAAR scores stayed above the state testing averages, which were released along with Region 14 averages last week.
