Two Albany students have stayed busy this summer exhibiting animal projects at summer livestock shows. Senior Kenzie Neve has attendedshowsatStephenville, Cameron,FortWorth, Huntsville, Navasoto, and Gonzales.

Shackelford County 4-H members have stayed busy, attending a variety of summer camps and programs. Two families – the Kreitlers and Frys – have been heavily involved.

The Albany Chamber of Commerce is beginning preparations for its annual community garage sale, scheduled this year for Saturday, Sept. 14.

Albany FFA advisor Chris Beard and a number of volunteers have been upgrading facilities at the school’s ag barn, which houses livestock projects for a number of students. An addition to the barn is a mechanical walker used to exercise sheep and goats.

The Albany PTO is hosting a movie night Saturday, Aug. 10 at Nail Stadium starting at 7:00 p.m.withadoublefeature forthepublicincludingAlbany and Moran children and their parents.

Parents and students are reminded that team and individual photos are being scheduled over the next couple of weeks. The band group photo was taken earlier this week, with individuals currently being scheduled.

The annual Back to School Bash held last Tuesday at Closet Angels proved to be a huge success, supplying over 100 adults and children with basic clothing, shoes, coats, and hoodies, according to Closet Angels coordinator Lori Reames.

Albany elementary students and their parents will learn teacher classroom assignmentsonTuesday, Aug. 13 at Meet the Teacher hosted by Nancy Smith Elementary from 4:00 p.m.

There are several positions openforstudentswho qualify for either the Head Start program or the Pre-K class at Nancy Smith Elementary School. Parents who are interested in having a child participate in either program shouldcontacttheschoolto determine if they qualify.

With three weeks of rehearsals under their belts, the Ragin’ Red Band will play for the first time this season at the annual Ice CreamSupperonMonday, Aug. 12 at the Bank Park.
