Deadline for program ads set this week

Bios of new staff members, along with faculty assignments and other preparations for the 20242025 year, are included in the special back-to-school section in this week’s issue.
There are also articles about vaccination requirements, elementary “meet the teacher” night, and orientation for new junior high and high school students.

The Old Jail Art Center’s summer camps are wrapping up with an “Out of this World” space-themed workshop for early learners earlier this week on Wednesday, followed by the STEAM OJAC for ages 9-12 on Friday, Aug. 9.
Deadlines near for fall show entries

County tax values increase 5.8%
Certified taxable values for each taxing entity were approved by the Shackelford County Appraisal Review Board last month, showinganoverallincrease of 5.8 percent compared to 3.2 percent last year. The total taxable value for the county increased by about $36M from $615M in 2023to$651Mthisyear,according to figures released by the Shackelford County Appraisal District (SCAD) this week.
