AISD budget, tax rate hearing set

$ During a regular meeting held Monday, the Albany ISD board of trustees set a special meeting for Friday, Aug. 30 to adopt a $7.6M proposed budget and set a tax rate which is actually three cents lower than last year’s rate.

STAAR test corrections reported

A few of the passing percentages provided by the school district that were reported last week were incorrect. The largest correction was in third grade math STAAR scores, which were initially reported as 31 percent.

The Albany Chamber of Commerce directors have voted to meet on the first Friday of each month rather than every Friday starting in September. Weekly luncheons at the Icehouse Restaurant will continue on the next three Fridays on Aug.

inished Repairs of the parking lot at the Shackelford County Courthouse arebeingcompleted,with striping scheduled Monday. According to county judge John Viertel, the asphalt was sealed earlier this week, but the contractor asked that the area continue to be blocked off so that the surface would be clean for striping.

Later in the meeting, council members decided that the increasing number of charges because of over-stuffed trash containers should be passed on to local customers.

AISD expects 475 to enroll for 24-25 year

Expected enrollment numbers are down by about 15 students for Albany ISD compared the beginning of the 202324 school year, including about 10 who are expected but still not registered as of Tuesday. On Tuesday, a total of 459 students were enrolled for the new school year, which is about the same number as last year at this point.
