In a multifaceted and sometimes lively meeting held Monday, Aug. 26, Shackelford County commissioners tackled issues ranging from historical sculptures to wildfire mitigation strategies, and then to coordination challenges within the local fire departments.

Proposing a budget and tax rate were the most significant actions on the Shackelford County Hospital District (SCHD) agenda for Monday, Aug. 19, but they weren’t the issues that took the most time during the 1-1/2 hour session.

The Albany Chamber of Commerce directors have voted to meet on the first Friday of each month rather than every Friday starting in September. Weekly luncheons at the Icehouse Restaurant will continue on the next three Fridays on Aug.
