Albany FFA members Jacob Knight and Brycen Turnbow wrapped up their season in the Texas High School Bass Association on Saturday, March 22 with the final West Division tournament at Lake Brownwood.

The duo caught several fish but did not submit them for weigh-in. The event drew 145 anglers, more than half of whom did not report a catch.

Knight and Turnbow were responsible for their own fundraising and lined up several sponsors, according to Albany FFA advisor Chris Beard.

The Albany tennis team returned from spring break with about a month to get ready for district, the process starting Tuesday, March 18 at the first of two Abilene High tournaments on the schedule.

The netters played in a quadrangular event Monday, March 24 a Vernon. Those results will be reported next week.

The Albany Lions baseball team split its first two District 8-2A games last week and now make their first home appearances in district plan.

The Lions (3-2-3 overall, 1-1 district) hosted Stamford on Tuesday, March 25. Results will be reported next week. Albany faces a new district opponent at 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 28 when Abilene TLCA visits.

On Tuesday, March 18, the Lions rolled to a 22-4 victory at Haskell, they fell just short Friday, March 21 in a 7-6 loss at Anson.

Moran ISD hit the ground running this week in its return from spring break, startng with its Scholastic Book Fair, which concludes Thursday, March 27 (today).

The book fair included a family night on Tuesday, March 25.

On Tuesday and Thursday, Moran had students entered in the District 13-1A UIL Academic meet at Eula. Ellis Hise was in Ready Writing and Mathematics with Zeke Henson in Spelling and Social Studies.
