    It was quite a birthday party for Shackelford County over the weekend, with numerous events marking the milestone 150th anniversary of the signing of a charter that officially created the county in 1874. “The 150th events all came off great,” 150 Club chairman David Waller said.

    Class of ‘74 gathers for reunion

    The AHS honor Class of 1974 held its 50th reunion during the 2024 Homecoming festivities in Albany this past weekend. A total of 22 classmates and many spouses enjoyed both the homecoming festivities and the celebration of the Shackelford County 150 Anniversary during the weekend.

    A small group of Albany ex-students from as far back as seven decades, including Art Viertel from the Class of 1945, attended the homecoming business meeting last Saturday morning at the Feed Store. Currentco-chairBuford Salters stated that over 700 email addresses of ex-students had been collected, andcommunication by email still seemed to be more effective than mail.

    Several couples twostep around the dance floor 2024 Gala fundraiser held Saturday night at Collins Creek Ranch. The annual event supports projects at Fort Griffin State Historic Site.
