Turkey Teacher to be ‘picked’

The Albany FCCLA chapter is seeking to name one Albany secondary teacher or staff member a real turkey by the end of nextweek,withthewinner wearing a turkey costume for a day prior to the Thanksgiving holidays. For a third year, the group is sponsoring a Turkey Teacher Contest, with students voting with donations for the teacher or staff member they would like to seewearacolorfulcostume on Tuesday, Nov.

5th graders attend camp

The fifth grade class at Nancy Smith Elementary spent three days this week studying a range of science curriculumatCampGrady SpruceOutdoorEducation Program. The students and sponsors left Monday morning, Nov.6 for the camp at Possum Kingdom Lake to learn about sciences ranging from geology to biology to astrology.

Band makes school history at area contest

Albany’s Ragin’ Red Band recorded another “first” last Saturday, qualifying for the finals in the UIL Area Marching Contest and finishing sixth overall. The group was ninth out of the top 10 bands that advanced to the finals seeking one of the five spots that moves on to the state marching contest in San Antonio next week.
