In a season derailed by injuries, the Albany Lady Lions basketball team suffered losses to Stamford and Anson last week to reach the midpoint of the District 10-2A schedule. The Lady Lions hosted Cisco on Tuesday, Jan.

Registration for Albany LittleLeague’s2024season is underway. Albany Little League organizer Paul Hamilton said the baseball program will continue with online registration this year, but information on how to register will be available through the school.

The Albany Little Dribblers Association extended its registration deadline to Thursday, Jan. 18 (today), pushing the draft and scheduling back to next week.

The Albany Lions were unbeaten in the District 10-2A boys basketball race with wins over Stamford and Anson last week, but ended up in a threeway tie after a loss to Cisco on Tuesday night in the local gym. The Lions (now 8-2 overall, 4-1 district) were in first place enteringTuesday’sgame,which ended in a heartbreaking 46-47 loss.

The Old JailArt Center will be closed to the public for about three weeks while some of the galleries undergo renovtions, according to OJAC executive director Patrick Kelly. The planned renovations began this week on Tuesday, Jan.

The weekly Chamber of Commerce luncheon will not be held Friday, Jan. 19 to avoid conflicting with the Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show.

Albany students and staff will have another holiday on Friday, Jan. 19 to allow students and staff to participate in the Shackelford CountyYouth and Livestock Show which starts tomorrow and ends on Saturday at the county show barn.

The high school Winter Formal is set for Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Whitney Theatre from 7:30 p.m.
