Flag Football Super Bowl set Nov. 7

By Lynsi Musselman Albany Flag Football and 7-on-7 teams have made it halfway through their seven-week season. League organizer Anthony Ceder explained that all teams have played three games each.

Early voting now underway

By Lynsi Musselman Early voting for the Nov. 3 election began in Texas and Shackelford County, on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Shackelford County and District Clerk Cheri Hawkins said in-person early voting is being held on the first floor of the Courthouse until Friday, Oct. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Delayed 2020 homecoming set this Friday

By Lynsi Musselman The mums are getting made, and the streets are painted in preparation for Albany Homecoming 2020, an event that some felt might never get to happen. The football game against Ranger is planned for this Friday, Oct. 16, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.

AMP Mystery Dinner planned Oct. 20

By Lynsi Musselman The fourth annual Albany Mainstreet Playhouse Mystery Dinner will take place at Fort Griffin General Merchandise next Tuesday, Oct. 20. A cocktail hour will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the main event at 6:30 p.m.

By Lynsi Musselman The downtown merchants will host their annual trick-or-treat event on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Michelle Alexander with Vintage Vanilla said non-merchants are invited to set up between the shops or at Bank Park to pass out candy as well.

2020 inductees

Although several current members and inductees weren’t able to attend, a total of 17 junior and senior students at Albany High School were recognized last Sunday afternoon after they were selected by the AISD staff to become a part of the AHS National Honor Society.
