Gym floors to be refinished

By Nolan Davis Both Albany High School gyms at will be closed next week as the floors undergo maintenance. “The gyms will be closed next week from Monday, July 8, to Friday, July 12,” said athletic director Ryder Peacock.

Old Jail to host teacher workshops

By Nolan Davis The Old Jail Art Center will be hosting four Region 14 teacher workshops during the month of July, with the first one scheduled for Friday, July 12. All four of the programs will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with breakfast and snacks provided.

CRP/CREP signup options explained

USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is currently accepting applications for certain practices under the continuous Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) signup and will offer extensions for expiring CRP contracts. The 2018 Farm Bill reauthorized CRP, one of the country’s largest conservation programs.

By Nolan Davis Hundreds of spectators lined the streets of downtown Albany Saturday afternoon to watch the horses, wagons, floats, antique vehicles, and longhorns take over Main Street for the 2019 Fort Griffin Fandangle Parade.
