Band gets I’s from all 5 judges
The Albany Ragin’ Red Band brought home a Division I rating from the Seymour Marching Contest last Saturday, earning the top rating from all five judges. The group will compete next at the UIL Marching Contest that is set for Monday, Oct.

Fandangle officers elected
Officers were reelected at the annual meeting of the Fort Griffin Fandangle Association last week. David Waller was again named board president for the coming year with Branch Bartee serving as vice president.

Homecoming royalty to be crowned Friday

Chamber lunch moved to AGC
The usual Chamber of Commerce luncheon held each Friday at the Icehouse is moving this week to the Albany Golf Course where Chamber members will join the Albany Kiwanis Club members for a fajita lunch held as part of atournamenttraditionally held during AHS homecoming week. All Chamber members or members of the public are invited to attend. The cost of the meal is $15.

County’s birthday to be celebrated
Area residents have the chance to celebrate the founding of Shackelford County a century and a half ago this weekend with a variety of events on tap. The first piece of the commemorative puzzle is a Chamber of Commerce lunch set for noon Friday at the Albany golf course and ending on Saturday afternoon at the spot at the townsite of Fort Griffin with a flag raising ceremony.
