Fandangle practices set
The call has been issued for members of the community who would like to participate in the cast of the Fort Griffin Fandangle to begin rehearsals starting Monday, May 13 at the Prairie Theater.
Veterans names needed soon
Persons interested in adding the name of a veteran toaadditionalmarker to be set on the courthouse square next to other monuments can do so for free if information is provided by May 15.
Roll-offs to be on site May 10-12
From Friday, May 10 to Sunday, May 12, local citizens will have the opportunity to get rid of large unwanted items at the annual “Weekend Trash Dump.” The City of Albany will provide large roll-offs to be located in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot.
Roberson, Russell named top students
Albany High School recently announced honor students for the 2024 senior class, with Kiana Roberson named valedictorian and Sidney Russell salutatorian. Ten other seniors were named as honor students as part of the top 25 percent of the class, which has 48 members.
Return Trip
An Albany High student qualified to advance to the UIL StateAcademic Meet inAustin for a second time after placing in the top three at the Region 2 Academic Meet in Denison last Friday. A total of 12 local students advanced to the regional academic meet, with several placing in the top six.

Commodities to be distributed
Pick-up dates for the May distribution of the commodity food program will be Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3. Eligible families in Moran should pick up their monthly commodity food at the Moran City Hall between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.
Fry sisters qualify for state 4-H
ShackelfordCounty4-H members Faith Fry and Grace Fry qualified for the Texas 4-H Roundup with their educational presentation Friday, April 26 at the District 7 Roundup in San Angelo. The Frys won the horse category and the entire livestock division with their presentation.
2 Moran students inducted in honor society
Moran High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society inducted two new members Monday, April 29 at Moran Events Center. Senior Danny O’Keefe and sophomore Jayla Bussell received their pins in a brief ceremony.
