UIL team claims three titles, sends 10 to regionals

Ten out of 17 Albany High students are advancing to the Region II Academic Meet on April 25-26 after placing in the top three at the District 10-2A Academic Meet in Anson last Wednesday.

Albany finished the district competition in fifth place out of seven schools, primarily because of the low participation numbers.

Albany students shine at TMSCA state

Four Albany middle school students competed in competition sponsored by the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association (TMSCA) during the state meet in San Antonio last weekend, with two of them placing in the top 20 in three categories.

Sixth grader Tanner Howe was second in science, seventh in number sense, and 11th in math.

Fellow sixth grader Travis Hill was 17th in science, 13th in number sense, and 18th in math.

Two Moran High School students will move on to regional UIL academic competition after placing in the top three at the district UIL competition last week in Eula.

Ellis Hise placed first in ready writing out of 12 contestants. He also competed in mathematics.

Ezekiel Henson was second in social studies and was entered in spelling as well.

The two MHS students will travel to San Angelo for the regional contest April 25-26.

Lions, Lady Lions continue to build momentum

Albany’s high school track teams closed out their home meet with a solid showing on March 27, at the Albany High School track. Both the Lions and Lady Lions used the meet as a final tune-up before heading into this week’s district competition.

The District 10-2A Meet was held Wednesday, April 2, in Cisco. Results from the district meet will appear in next week’s edition of The Albany News.
