April 3 in Anson Over 20 Albany High School students will travel to Anson on Wednesday, April 3 to compete in the District 10-2A UIL Academic Meet. The top three places in individual events will advance to the regional meet, while the top team in the team events moves on to the next level.

Fort Griffin State Historic Site will host a Milky Way photography workshop Friday-Saturday, April 5-6. Lynn Cromer will instruct participants on how to best take photos of the night sky and the Milky Way.

Albany students and staff will have holidays on Friday,March29andMonday, April 1 in observance of Easter. These are the last scheduled holidays for the 2024-2025 school.

After closing its doors about a year ago, a local convenience store is slated to reopen on April 8 under new ownership and management following renovations and repairs. Known for the last 24 years as Prairie Star, the business will continue to operate under the previous name and will be managed by local resident Shana Hogue, who herself has over 16 years of experience in the grocery store business.
