Tickets are selling fast for the first night of a twonight run featuring Pat Green on June 7 and 8 at the Aztec Theater. Seats for the second performance on Saturday, June 8 have already sold out.

˚ PRINCIPAL’SPOINTS Nancy Smith Elementary has made it to summer! Students and staff have completed and wrapped up the 2023-2024 school year. We are proud of our students and so grateful for the workourteachersand staff have put in.

TheAlbany Dance Theatre will present its 74th Annual Recital on Saturday, June 1. The free performance will be held at the Albany High School auditorium, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The Albany PTO ended 2023-24 with a full agenda at their last meeting Monday night. Business included election of officers for the new school year as well as discussion of projects.

Local families can finish out the school year with a creative flair at the Old Jail’s first summer event this Saturday, May 25 – Inti Raymi – the Incan people’s Festival of the Sun. Participants will explore Incan traditions fromAncient Peru.

Students at Nancy Smith Elementary completed one of their annual end -of -school events Tuesday as they made their way to the high school track to participate in various competitions. Bothelementaryandjunior high campuses scheduled an awards assembly during the week with the elementary program on Wednesday and the junior high awards assembly slated for today, Thursday at 10:45 a.m.

The end of the year concerts for fifth and sixth grade bands will be held during the elementary talent show starting at 9:00 a.m. in the cafeteria on Thursday (today).

Organizers are backed up to the starting gate and ready for a second attempt at the 17th annual Albany Classic Car Show this Saturday, May 18 after the original April date was rained out. Earlier this week, more rain was forecast for the weekend, but those chances have mostly fizzled out, and vounteer Robert Snyder is optimistic that Saturday will dawn as the kind of day that classic car owners will enjoy getting their vehicles out into.

inner Graduating Albany senior Sidney Russell is certainly going out on top this week, competing and medaling at the UIL State Academic Meet on Tuesday and playing in the UIL State Tennis Tournament today and tomorrow. This is her second time to compete in both meets, having qualified last year as well.

The annual Baccalaureate Service for the Albany High School Class of 2024 is set for Sunday, May 19 at 4:00 p.m. André Raymond, former AHS science teacher, will be the guest speaker at the event, introduced by class valedictorian, Kiana Roberson.
