Schools report summer office hours

Students at Nancy Smith Elementary completed one of their annual end -of -school events Tuesday as they made their way to the high school track to participate in various competitions. Bothelementaryandjunior high campuses scheduled an awards assembly during the week with the elementary program on Wednesday and the junior high awards assembly slated for today, Thursday at 10:45 a.m.

Fandangle practice underway

Rehearsals for the summer performances of the Fort Griffin Fandangle started this week, and local residents interested in participating are urged to attend as soon a possible. Practices for the four summershowssetforJune 21-22 and June 28-29 are being held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during May and the first week of June before expanding to also include Wednesdays two weeks before opening night.

Local car show ready for 2nd try this Saturday

Organizers are backed up to the starting gate and ready for a second attempt at the 17th annual Albany Classic Car Show this Saturday, May 18 after the original April date was rained out. Earlier this week, more rain was forecast for the weekend, but those chances have mostly fizzled out, and vounteer Robert Snyder is optimistic that Saturday will dawn as the kind of day that classic car owners will enjoy getting their vehicles out into.

Pool Splash Day planned June 1

The date is nearing for the opening of the Albany City Pool, set for Saturday, June 1. As in the past, the first day is Splash Day with no admission charged for that day only.

Pat Green tickets available June 7

Tickets are still available for the first night of a two-night run featuring Pat Green on June 7 and 8 at the Aztec Theater. Originally, Green was scheduled to play only on Saturday, June 8, which has already sold out.
