Community service planned

By Sandy Morris The Ministerial Alliance continues to work on plans for the Easter Community Service.  This year’s Easter event is called AWAKEN and will be held at the Aztec on Sunday, March 28. Alliance members are planning for the event to include out of town speakers and a worship team.

Lunch set Sunday

By Sandy Morris Project Graduation organizers for the senior class will hold a ‘To Go’ lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28 at The Feed Store.  The menu will include chicken spaghetti, salad, bread stick, and dessert for a donation.

AJHS track meet cancelled

By Donnie A. Lucas Albany’s junior high tracksters had the first track meet of the year at Hamlin cancelled as a result of schools being dismissed the previous week because of the weather. The season opener will be next Tuesday, March 2 at Breckenridge. Events are scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.

JV baseball tourney to start here today

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lion baseball team is starting the 2021 season at home this week, hosting a JV tournament on Thursday through Saturday. The Lions will play Sweetwater’s JV at 2:00 Thursday, then take the field again on Friday at 1:00 p.m. against the Baird varsity.

Commodities date set Mar. 5

By Sandy Morris Pick-up dates for the March distribution of the commodity food program will be Thursday, March 4 and Friday, March 5. Certified eligible families in Moran should pick up their monthly commodity food at the Moran City Hall between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 4.
