The Moran Bulldogs fell 48-6 to Aspermont on Friday, Sept. 8.
The Bulldogs (1-2) return to action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Mullin.
Against Aspermont, Ethan Boykin scored on a 13-yard run in the third quarter after the Hornets led 28-0 at halftime.
“Our record doesn’t show it, but we’re playing well,” coach John Hughes said. “A bad break here, a bad break there is what’s happening with us.
Boykin and Ellis Hise each rushed for 43 yards. Hise had 85 yards passing with Garrett Hamilton throwing for 59 yards. Caleb York caught five passes for 59 yards, while Cotten Campbell and Hise each had four receptions.

Volleyball
The Lady Bulldogs volleyball program played just once last week, falling at Woodson on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Moran’s match scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9 at Lipan was cancelled because of a lack of players.
On Tuesday, Sept. 12, Moran visited Ranger. Results will be reported next week.
The varsity was joined at Woodson by two junior high teams making their first appearances of the season.
The varsity lost 17-25, 10-25, 13-25.
“We’ve made some improvements and are trying to keep everybody well,” coach Jo Hise said.
The junior high Gold team lost 10-25,10-25, while the Purple team lost 0-25, 10-25.
Moran has 12 girls in the junior high program, 10 of them sixth graders.
“I have one eighth grader who played in sixth grade, but not much,” Hise said. “My seventh grader has never played. We’re teaching things as basic as you can hit the ball three times.”
Almost Ready
Work on Moran’s gym floor has been completed, allowing the volleyball team to end its exile from home.
“The floor is complete,” said Hise. “We’re going to let it cure until next Tuesday (Sept. 19).”
That’s the date for Moran’s first scheduled home match, which will be against Rotan. The Lady Bulldogs have traveled for their first 13 matches.
Moran has been conducting practices at Albany’s auxiliary gym.
“I so appreciate Albany letting us borrow their facilities,” Hise said.
