Varsity Wins
Albany opened the week with a road win over Colorado City on Oct. 6, taking the varsity match 25-20, 18-25, 25-14, 25-10.
Head coach M.J. Reneau said the team responded well after dropping the second set and tightened its play to close out the match.
“Our setter-hitter chemistry was really good, and I felt like our serve receive improved throughout the match,” Reneau said. “Carrying 11 on varsity can be tough when players are sharing spots, but every girl has continued to develop this season, and I really believe we are stronger because of it.”
The Lady Lions followed with a three-set victory over Roscoe on Saturday, Oct. 10, winning 25-13, 25-13, 25-20.
Reneau said the team adapted quickly when she changed the lineup midway through the second set, maintaining its energy and competitiveness. She noted that players’ ability to fill multiple positions has been valuable as the team prepares for postseason play.
