Cubs claim team title at Buffalo Relays

The Albany Junior High eighth grade boys won the team title Monday, March 3 at the Junior High Buffalo Relays at Cross Plains, while both girls teams placed second in the team standing.

After taking a week off for spring break, the teams return Friday, March 21 to host the Albany junior high meet.

At Cross Plains, the eighth grade Cubs scored 136½ points, winning two events and earning 13 medals. Ace Townson won the pole vault and Blake Britting won the 400.

The seventh grade boys totaled 58 points to finish fifth. Iathan Torres won the pole vault and Paxton Slaughter won the 200.

The eighth grade girls scored 128 points, finishing 10 behind Anson. Sawyer Shoaf won the shot put and discus, while Hattie Fikes won the 400 and 800 in addition to anchoring the winning 1600 relay. Other relay members were Tinley Hefner, Hailey Gleitz and Keeley Britting. Hefner also won the pole vault and Haiden Niell won the 300 hurdles.

The seventh grade girls scored 98½ points, finishing behind Santo. Loralie Balliew won the shot put and Gibson ware won the pole vault.
