Ann Harris

Ann Harris, age 95, went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2026, in Mesquite, Texas, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was born on December 10, 1930, in Fort Griffin, Texas, to her loving parents, Franklin Smalley and Gladys (Crudington) Smalley.

Ann married the love of her life, Vernon Lee Harris, and together they built a beautiful life filled with faith, love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their greatest joy was raising their beloved son, Montgomery Lee Harris. Throughout their years together, Ann and Vernon shared a love for traveling and making wonderful memories side by side.

A graduate of Albany High School, Ann devoted many years to raising her son before proudly becoming a licensed real estate agent and broker. She later worked as a librarian at East College, where her love of books and learning continued to flourish. Ann was a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of the Baptist Church and later the Methodist Church in Mesquite.

In her retirement, Ann found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed traveling with Vernon, making pottery, knitting, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, and especially reading. She could spend countless hours lost in the pages of a good book.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vernon Lee Harris; her parents, Franklin and Gladys Smalley; and her siblings, Fred Smalley Sr., Dixie Ray Wilson, and Franklin Smalley.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Montgomery Lee Harris, and his wife, Beverly Gail Dotson Harris, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Though Ann will be deeply missed, her family finds peace and comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her beloved Vernon in the presence of the Lord. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Albany Cemetery in Albany.
