Hospital board approves raises

Two new directors, James Breeden and David Henry, were sworn in at the beginning of a meeting of the Shackelford CountyHospitalDistrict’sboard of directors that eventually yielded a five percent raise for pharmacy employees and for district administrator Brandi Green.

Morethanhalfofthemeeting was spent in closed session, discussing employee evaluations, as well as a couple of items that didn’t appear to qualify as they were listed. Additional agenda detail was requested by the News for future closed sessions.

Other than the employee raises, the only action taken after themeetingwasreopenedto the public was approval to hire MinaAguilarpart-timetoassist EMS director Mateo Millan.

EMS Radios

Millan outlined the EMS department’s need for new radios, four ideally, at a cost of about $2,500 each, to replace two remaining outdated radios currently in service.

Millan is seeking possible community donations to help purchase the equipment, explaining thattheportableradios would be beneficial in more efficient communication between EMS workers and other emergency personnel.

Earlier in the meeting, Millan introduced Chris McDonald and Melinda Watson to the board, recognizing them for their “life-saving” efforts in a recent cardiac arrest call.
