Students and faculty at AISD will be treated to an entire week off this year forThanksgivingholidays. After dismissal on Friday, Nov. 22, the holiday week will begin, running from Monday, Nov. 25 through Friday, Nov. 29, with classes resuming Monday, Dec. 2.

A New Chapter and a Final Goodbye

By David H. Waller A little over a year ago, Donnie, Melinda, and I sat down at The Albany News office to talk about the possibility of me buying the historic newspaper. But as we unpacked the details, I knew the timing wasn’t quite right. There were too many moving pieces in my life, and the stars just hadn’t aligned. So, instead they welcomed me into the team to handle graphics for the paper, offering me a way to contribute, even if it wasn’t yet as the owner.

Dec. 1 to new location This week marks the beginning of new ownership at The Albany News as David and Courtney Waller assume the reins from longtime owners Donnie and Melinda Lucas.
