With the official reopening of the Old Jail Art Center next Tuesday, Feb. 13 after a few weeks of renovations, the OJAC staff is looking for “a little love.” Visitors can show their love with special hearts to leave in the newly refreshed galleries from Feb.

Representatives of local organizations and boards that award scholarships to AlbanyHighSchoolgraduates are asked to contact Ann Riley at theAHS office by Monday, March 25. The office will be closed for spring break March 1115 for spring break but will reopen for regular hours on Monday, March 18.

Rehearsalshavestarted at Albany High School for one act play competition, which will be presented at the district contest on Wednesday, March 6 in Haskell. DirectorChanelHayner said that the cast decided to again use the play “Oz” which they performed last yearandwerepickedasthe district’s alternate with fourth place.

A number of Albany students will compete in theAbileneWylieValentine UIL Classic on Saturday at Wylie High School. UIL director Rick Davis said this is the second practice meet of the season in preparation for the district contest set for April 3 in Anson.

Estridge finishes at SPC

Wesley Estridge of Albany graduated with his Welding Certificate – Advanced Processes from South Plains College in Fall 2023.

Estridge was among more than 400 students who were recognized by South Plains for academic achievement.

Wesley is the son of Val and Blake Estridge of Albany.
