Volunteers deliver baskets
By Sandy Morris
With the help of local volunteers, members of the Albany Ministerial Alliance distributed almost all of the requested Christmas baskets on Sunday, Dec. 13.
Last week, Nancy Smith Elementary School sixth grade students, Albany High School ag classes, and members of the AHS National Honor Society divided the canned goods and other staples into the bags.
On Sunday afternoon, workers at The Feed Store assembly location added perishable items to finish filling the food baskets.
“It all went very well,” said Feed Store executive director and Alliance secretary Tisha Wilkins. “We had a great group of volunteers.”
Baskets included either a whole uncooked turkey, a pre-cooked turkey breast, or a pre-cooked ham. Other food items in the bags and boxes completed the menu for a complete Christmas meal.
