Students, teachers, and support staff will celebrate the first school holiday of the year on Monday, Sept. 7 when the local school district dismisses for Labor Day.

Classes will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the normal times of 7:55 a.m. at Nancy Smith Elementary School and at 8:00 a.m. at the secondary campus.

The next scheduled student holiday is Columbus Day, Oct. 12, followed by Thanksgiving. Classes will dismiss early on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and will resume the Monday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 30.

The fall semester will end with an early release on Dec. 18 for the Christmas break.

Children in Head Start and three-year old pre-K classes are released at 2:30 p.m., followed by the four-year old pre-K through second grade at 3:00 p.m.

Older students at Nancy Smith Elementary School are dismissed at 3:30 p.m., and students at Albany Junior/Senior High are released a few minutes later at 3:35 p.m.

There is not a bus for students dismissed before the end of the school day. All buses run at 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and at 3:00 p.m. on Fridays.

On Fridays, all classes are released at 3:00 p.m. except Head Start and three-year old Pre-K, which are dismissed at 2:30 p.m. as usual.
