OJAC to host biennial auction
Art enthusiasts are invited to the Old Jail Art Center this Saturday evening for a chance to purchase paintings, porcelains, sculptures, stoneware, pottery, etchings, and photographs from among the 69 lots contributed to the museum’s 14th biennial auction.
Funds raised will benefit the Old Jail’s Acquisitions Fund and the conservation of the permanent collection, according to executive director Patrick Kelly.
“Join us for an evening of lively auction banter, enticing hors d’oeuvres, premium cocktails, and a unique opportunity to enhance your personal art collection or begin a new one,” said development and membership coordinator Susan Montgomery.
Tickets to attend “Auction Twenty-Eighteen” are $60 for OJAC members and $85 for non-members, and may be purchased online at theojac.org or by calling 325-762-2269, and will be held at the registration desk along with bid paddles.
The evening includes a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, and spirits starting at 7:00 p.m., a live auction beginning at 8:00 p.m., and is expected to conclude soon after the close of the silent auction at 9:30 p.m.
Pam Davis will handle the auctioneer duties.
Fifteen items will be up for sale during the live auction, with the remainder of the pieces offered in the silent auction. Reserves range from $25 up to $5,000.
The offerings include works by Alice Reynolds, Sarah Williams, Daniel Blagg, Jeffrey Brosk, Natasha Bowdoin, Linda Ridgway, Patrick Kelly, Dennis Blagg, Charles T. Williams, Joe Barrington, Margaret Meehan, and many others.
The catalogue is available for viewing on the OJAC website. Auction items are already on display at the museum, and shoppers can start bidding on silent auction pieces at any time.
Registration is required before bidding on any of the auction items.
Bidders do not have to be members of the OJAC, but non-members will be charged an additional $25 for each winning absentee bid.
All absentee bids must be received at the museum before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9.
