New youth pastor starts at FBC
By Sam Waller
Eduardo San Lucas has worked with children from age 3 through high school. As the new youth minister at First Baptist Church of Albany, he will minister to about 40 youth in junior high and high school.
San Lucas, who began his duties on Dec. 1, said he wasn’t pursuing the job when it was offered.
“I think the Lord opened this door for me without me even asking for the position,” he said. “It was a blessing from God.”
San Lucas, a Breckenridge native who is in his fifth year working for Breckenridge ISD at the elementary level, began working with youth groups two years ago.
“I started working with Campbell Terry back in 2019 when I first met him,” San Lucas said. “I helped him with Camp JAM back in July 2020.”
Terry is FBC’s former youth pastor who left several months ago to pursue his theological degree.
San Lucas said he has a simple goal for the job.
“I want the kids to be able to reach Christ through me because nothing is available unless it’s through God,” he said. “I want them to be an example to the community and to be a leader for Christ. I’m here to be a servant and a helping hand in any way I can be.”
San Lucas said he’s still getting a feel for the position.
“I’m learning the ropes, trying to get the hang of it,” he said. “It’s a big position to be in. We’ll eventually start planning camps for 2022.”
