Tickets have sold out for the Friends of Fort Griffin Gala on Oct. 9 featuring Larry, Steve, & Rudy: The Gatlin Brothers, but anyone interested in attending can be placed on a waiting list.

According to event coordinator Susan Waller, the last of the 300 tickets were sold on Monday, so she is opening a waiting list in case tickets become available again.

A total of 300 tickets were sold for $50 each for the event which serves as the main fundraiser for the non-profit.

The Friends organization is dedicated to supporting the historic park that is now a State Historic Site operated by the Texas Historical Commission.

“People have things come up, so those who find they can’t use their tickets should contact me,” Waller said. “We will refund the original ticket holder and sell them to people on the wait list.”

She asked that tickets be returned as quickly as possible if a conflict does arise.

“I will continue to give refunds until Oct. 6, but the sooner I know, the better,” she said. “We want to accommodate those people on the waiting list if possible.”

The event will be held in a large tent this year at Collins Creek Ranch near the original townsite of Fort Griffin. The military fort known as Fort Griffin was located nearby on a hill overlooking the Clear Fork of the Brazos River.

The meal will be the traditional Gala fare of prime rib and all the fixings prepared by Clifford Teinert, Bill Cauble, and friends.

Waller also asked anyone who has not received tickets within a week after making payment to contact her.

To be placed on the waiting list or report tickets that have not been received, contact Waller at susanftgriffin@aol.com or message her on the Friends of Fort Griffin Facebook page.

The Gatlins will present a 75-minute show on a stage in the tent area.

The JAK Creek Band with Jim Sadler will provide music for a dance at the Collins Creek venue following the meal and performance by the Gatlins.
