Donations still needed for senior adults

Marine SSgt. Doug Beaty made his final delivery of toys for the Toys for Tots drive to the Youth Center on Tuesday, Dec. 13 in advance of toy distribution by ResourceCare.

“I’ve taken eight boxes, and I’m bringing eight more full boxes, with maybe a little bit of extra stuff,” Beaty said.

Beaty coordinates the annual campaign in Shackelford County and the surrounding area. He said more than $4,000 was spent on toys for this year.

ResourceCare provides Beaty with the ages and genders of children registered for the program.

The toys will be available for parents to pick up from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 at the Youth Center.

Additional Needs

ResourceCare’s Ragan Riley said ResourceCare still needs donations for all its Christmas outreach programs.

Items sought include blankets, hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, toilet paper, shampoo, etc.), and paper products (paper plates, plastic cups, plasticware, paper towels, etc.).

Monetary donations are also welcomed, Riley said.
