The rise in the number of COVID-19 cases appears to be leveling off if not decreasing slightly over the last week.

A total of 44 tests were administered from Tuesday, Sept. 7 through Friday, Sept. 10, with 18 cases testing positive.

The numbers were reported by county judge Bob Skelton earlier this week and included statistics reported by both the Shackelford Hospital Clinic and ResourceCare Community Health Center in Albany.

The hospital clinic had a total of 13 tests with three positives on Monday of this week.

School nurse Lisa Russell said that she reported a total of four student cases from last week, with only one additional case so far this week. All five of the cases involved students, with no additional cases listed for staff members.

It was noted in the county judge’s report that the results represent results at the two local clinics and do not include possible test results for county residents who were tested elsewhere.

The Shackelford County Health Clinic and Resource Care can provide COVID-19 testing, along with Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. An appointment is required for either service.

The hospital clinic can be contacted at 325-762-3661, while the telephone number at ResourceCare is 325-762-2247.

The Shackelford County EMS Station is offering free COVID-19 testing with an appointment by calling 325-762-3313.
