Churches plan back to school events

Back to school is not just for academics. Church families are also getting their back-to-school programs underway to educate the spiritual aspect of life.
First Baptist Church
FBC youth minister Campbell Terry said JAM will kick off Wednesday, Sept. 9, but the youth group starts gathering a couple of weeks before that on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Terry said there will be a small get-together to start the school year, with details still being finalized.
Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church
The Mother’s Day Out program at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church will begin on Friday, Sept. 11 from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Pre-registration with proper documentation is required to attend.
Youth Sunday School at MMPC will continue to meet each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in the five new classes formed last Sunday, Aug. 16.
Friendship Baptist
Minister Paul Johnson at Friendship Baptist Church said that older youth are already meeting on Wednesday nights and will continue to meet weekly at the church at 6:00 p.m.
He said a back-to-school coke float event is in the works for the “Tribe” sign-up that is geared towards the younger kids.
The kick-off is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9, with more details to be announced.
Sunday School will continue to meet at 9:50 a.m. followed by Friendship’s worship service at 10:55 a.m.
