The Albany Ministerial Alliance will host Fifth Quarter fellowships following the varsity football game of Albany vs. Haskell on Friday, Sept. 17.

A major change this year in the traditional event will be hosting the high school and junior high fellowships at separate locations.

“The junior high students will meet at the Feed Store after the game,” Tisha Wilkins, executive director of the Feed Store, said. “The high school students will meet at the field house parking lot, or in the Green Room depending on the weather, after each home game this year.”

Wilkins said that separating the two age groups is an attempt to attract more high school students. Food and drinks will be provided at both locations.

This week the refreshments will be provided by the Church of Christ, Maranatha Fellowship, and the Jesus of Nazareth Catholic Church.

The fellowships will start immediately after the conclusion of the game, with the junior high gathering at the Feed Store ending at 11:00 p.m.

Wilkins is hopeful that more high school aged students will meet at the field house to talk and greet players after they clean up and dress.

“There will not be any activities planned for the high school,” she said. “It is just a chance for them visit with friends and enjoy some refreshments after the game.”

High school students who don’t drive can also be picked up at 11:00 p.m., she said.

The Lions are playing three consecutive home games, starting this week against Haskell.

The host churches for Sept. 24 following the Anson game will be sponsored by Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church and Trinity Lutheran Church.

The third home game is set for Friday, Oct. 1 against Olney for homecoming. Those fellowships will be hosted by First Christian Church and the Feed Store.

Albany will also be at home on Oct. 15 for the Hico game, with Friendship Baptist Church, Bethel Assembly, and United Methodist providing the refreshments.

The final home game is on Oct. 29 against Santo, with First Baptist Church hosting.
