The Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducting its 2020 and 2021 classes at their Hall of Fame Banquet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 19.

The 2020 banquet was cancelled due to COVID concerns, so those honorees will be included with two new members for 2021.

Class of 2020 members being honored include Lari Dee Guy, who lives in Shackelford County, along with David Bourland (posthumously), Ahmad Brooks, Jerry Don Logan, and C.H. Underwood.

Freddie L. (posthumously) and Fred (Derf) Scott are receiving the “Legacy” award.

Mike Cochran will receive the “Lifetime Achievement for Media” award and Coach Ron Butler will receive the “Big Country Impact” award. The “Legends Recognition” will be awarded to Boone Magness and Milton Martin (both posthumously.)

Abilene High School Alumni Taylor Potts and Lyle Leong, Jr. are the only two inductees in the Class of 2021.

The banquet will be held at the Abilene Convention Center with COVID protocols being observed.

Tickets and tables are now on sale and can be purchased by going online at www.bigcountryhalloffame.org or calling 325-668-3685.

Individual tickets for the banquet only cost $65 each and tables are available for $800, which includes the VIP reception and priority seating.

2020 Class Banquet ticket holders will receive replacement tickets for this year’s event since last year’s event was cancelled.
