Cast rehearses for 2024 Sampler

The Membership Sampler for the 2024 edition of the Fort Griffin Fandangle is just over a week away, set this year for Saturday, April 20 at Collins Creek Ranch near Fort Griffin. Practices are set for Thursday (today) and next Tuesday at the Prairie Theater starting at 6:30 p.m., then moving to Collins Creek for 7:00 p.m.

Golfers to play at regional meet

By Sam Waller The Albany Lions golf team takes its shot at a return to the Class 2A statetournamentMonday-Tuesday,April 15-16 at the Region II-2A tournament at Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris. The top three teams and top three individuals at regional advance to state, which will be Monday-Tuesday, April 29-30 at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.

Lady Lions jump out to early lead against Baird

The Albany Lady Lions softball team rode a fast start to a 9-3 win over Baird on Friday, April 5 in their second outing since resuming play. The Lady Lions were rained out Tuesday, April 9 in their game at Abilene TLCA.

Jr. high meet cut short by weather

Weather struck once again at a track meet involving Albany teams with the junior high district meet cut short Monday, April 8 at Hamlin. At least one event was left unfinished in each division.

Moran students view eclipse from 3 sites

Moran students witnessed the total solar eclipse from three vantage points Monday, April 8. A group of 68 students from fourth through 12th grades and eight faculty members traveled to San Saba, which was in the zone of totality.

Track season ends at district

The Moran track team wrapped up its season Monday,April8,atthearea meet between District 131A and 14-1A at May. The boys 400 relay of Danny O’Keefe, Garrett Hamilton, Ellis Hise, and Ethan Boykin was Moran’s only entry at the meet.

Team plays well at Vernon

The Albany tennis team claimed three first-place finishes and a second from five doubles entries Wednesday, April 3 at the Vernon tournament. The Lion netters return to the courts Thursday, April 11 (today) at the Abilene Christian tournament atRoseParkTennisCenter.
