The Albany Lady Lions softball team squeezed in three games in five days as they approach their final game of the regular season. Albany (8-4) closes out the district schedule at 5:00 p.m.

Haskell to insure position The Albany Lions put themselves on the brink of qualifying for the Class 2A baseball playoffs Friday, April 12 with a 12-2 win over Anson. The Lions (12-2 overall, 6-2 District 8-2A) entered their final home game on Tuesday, April 16 needing to beat Haskell to clinch.

The Albany Lions golf team is headed to the Class 2A state tournament for the third year in a row after finishing third at the Region II-2A tournament.

The Albany Lions and Lady Lions will send eight athletes in eight events to regional after their performances Thursday, April 11 at the area track meet at Graham. The Region II-2A meet is scheduled for Friday-Saturday, April 19-20 at Porcupine Stadium in Springtown.

The Old Jail Art Center’s Teen Docent Corps will host SlowArt Day this Saturday, April 20, with student workers on hand from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. to discuss artwork with museum visitors.

Four Nancy Smith Elementary sixth graders competed in competition sponsored by the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association (TMSCA)during the state meet in San Antonio last weekend. Artie Bell won first place in the TMSCA1A/2A division in Science.

Wanda (Susie) Lynn Hawley, 85, of Moran passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, in a Cisco nursing home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Albany Church of Christ with Sonny McCauley officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Gerri Winkler of Clifton, Texas entered into the light of eternity Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Waco, Texas. A graveside service was held Saturday, April 6 at Moody Leon Cemetery outside of Moody, Texas.
