Albany to host JV baseball tourney
The Albany Lions baseball program will host its Albany JV Tournament Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 22-24 in the first action of the season.
Little League workout set Saturday
Registration for Albany LittleLeague’s2024season is nearing its conclusion with one more week to go. Albany Little League organizer PaulHamiltonsaid 105 players had registered as of Tuesday, Feb.
Tennis opens today
The Albany Lions tennis program has been well represented at the Class 2A state tournament the last two years. Several players with state experience will attempt to keep the streak going.

Track season to get underway Feb. 22
A lot of miles are to be covered on the track and on the highway between now and May 3, but the Albany Lions and Lady Lions track and field teams are gearing up to end another season at the state meet in Austin.
Lions survive bi-district nailbiter
Thursday in Graham The Albany Lions had to hold on tight Monday, Feb. 19 in the opening round of the Class 2A boys basketball playoffs, but managed to escape with a 51-50 bidistrict victory over Windthorst atBreckenridge.

Lady Lions record 3-1 start at Clyde
The Albany Lady Lions opened their softball season by going 3-1 last weekend at the Clyde tournament. “We got some games under our belt, saw game situations and came out of it with a whole list of things we’ve got to cover,” Lady Lion coach Jimmy Fuentes said.
