Volunteers needed for Fall Fest

The Albany Parent Teacher Organization is still in need of volunteers to help with its annual Fall Fest, which is scheduled for Oct. 30 at Nancy Smith Elementary School.

Malarie Sutton, PTO president, said some changes have been made to the schedule because of the lack of volunteers, partly due to some conflicts such as the area band competition in Amarillo that day.

Instead of separate bingo games for adults and children, a single game for all ages will be held in the gymnasium. Also, the fire department’s bounce house has been cancelled.

Sutton said the bingo game still needs workers.

“We definitely need volunteers,” Sutton said. “Bingo could use a couple of extra people, but we will absolutely find a spot for anyone who shows up to help.”

To volunteer or for more information about the event, contact Sutton at 325-762-6368.

The event, which is scheduled for 5:00-8:00 p.m., will provide food service in the cafeteria. The menu will include chili, stew, beans and cornbread, hotdogs, Frito pies, baked potatoes and desserts, according to coordinator Michaela Smith.

To participate in activities, attendees must purchase tickets for 50 cents each. Participation at each will be one ticket, and instead of handing out prizes at each individual booth, participants can redeem for different level prizes on the cafeteria stage.

Activities will start at 5:00 p.m. with a silent auction for decorated pumpkins for each grade level. The auction will conclude at 7:30 p.m.

A costume contest will start at 5:30 p.m. on a trailer outside the band hall next to Griffin Road. Age groups for the contest will be age 1 and under, 2-3 years old, Pre-K, kindergarten-second grade, third-sixth grade, and 13 and up. There will also be a division for duo/team costumes.

The cake walk will start at 6:00 p.m.under the awning next to the band hall.
