Volleyball team to be recognized

Members of the Albany Lady Lions volleyball team, which advanced all the way to the state semifinals under coach M.J. Reneau last fall, will be recognized in a special ceremony this Thursday, Jan. 14 at 6:00 p.m.

The special event will be held in the main gym, and is open to to parents and supporters, as long as the 50 percent gym capacity is not exceeded. 

“Usually, in a pre-­COVID world, our athletes would have been honored at the state volleyball tournament, but even though that tournament didn’t happen this year, we still wanted to honor these ladies,” said AISD superintendent Jonathan Scott. “Come celebrate with us.”

The eight teams that qualified for the Class 2A semifinals and finals played in separate locations this year rather than one combined site.
