The teacher workshop to be hosted on Friday, July 26 by the Old Jail Art Center will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. instead of the times previously reported, according to OJAC membership and development coordinator Susan Montgomery.

The time is 30 minutes earlier than the Old Jail’s other three teacher workshops because the participants will be taken on a charter bus for a tour of historic railroad sites.

“Texas Railroads & Western Expansion” is geared toward instructors of grades 4-8 who instruct social studies, Texas and U.S. history, and science.

One of the 2019 workshops has already taken place, with the second one, “Around the World Through Art & Games,” scheduled for this Friday, July 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This workshop is designed for instructors of grades 6-12 and who instruct visual arts, fine arts, social studies, and world history.

Following the railroads event on July 26, the fourth and final workshop is “¡Fiesta! Hispanic Arts & Culture” on Wednesday, July 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

It is designed for instructors of grades 5-10 who teach Spanish language, language arts, social studies, and visual arts.

Teachers may register for any of the 2019 programs at the Region 14 Education Service Center PitStop website, providing they have not filled.

Those who would like more information can contact the Old Jail Art Center Education Director at 325-762-2936.
