Youth continue play

Several local fifth and sixth graders are continuing to be busy on Saturdays with youth league basketball, with two weeks remaining in the season.

Albany’s girls teams will play at Hawley High School this Saturday, with the sixth grade playing at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The fifth grade girls are scheduled to play at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The boys will travel to Jim Ned High School this week. The sixth graders play at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., while the fifth grade team plays at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The fifth grade boys defeated Hawley 32-8 last Saturday in their first game. Scoring were Clay Chapman 9, Aiden Vickers 12, Bennett Neece 8, Graham Ceder 2, and Senio Togia 2.

The fifth graders later beat Eula 42-15. Scoring were Chapman 18, Vickers 14, Neece 8, and Slayton Parsons 2.

The sixth grade boys lost both games, falling to Jim Ned Blue 14-12. Scoring in the game were Zane Green 8, Colter Edgar 2, and Connor Smith 2.

The team also lost to Hawley in the second game 42-15. Individual scoring totals were not available.

The fifth grade girls also won both games played at Albany last Saturday.

The team defeated Eula 20-6 in the first game. Scoring were Charli Trail 8, Carsyn Clegg 4, Cayla Day 2, and Annie Agee 8.

The girls beat Jim Ned Red in the second game, 13-10. Scoring were Day 2, Clegg 1, Finlee Brown 6, and Agee 4.

The sixth grade girls lost to Stamford 12-11 in the first game, followed by a 24-2 loss to Jim Ned in the second game.

Scoring in the first game were Zayne Le­fevre 5, Tatum Grady 2, MaeKayla Kersey 2, and Ashlyn Miller 2. Le­fevre scored the lone bucket in the second game.
