Another summer sports camp offered by Albany coaches wrapped up this week, but more are on the horizon.

The Albany Lions & Lady Lions All-Sports Camp completed a three-day run. Coach David Fairchild said approximately 40 campers attended the Monday session, with about the same number expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Next up are camps for cheerleading and volleyball.

Albany varsity cheerleaders will hold a home camp Monday-Wednesday, June 20-22 with the National Cheerleaders Association in preparation for the upcoming school year.

The Albany Volleyball Camp will be held Monday-Wednesday, June 27-29.

Cost is $25 per camper and includes a T-shirt.

Sessions will be 8:30-9:30 a.m. for students entering first through third grades, 10:00-11:30 a.m. for incoming fourth through six graders and 1:00-3:00 p.m. for rising seventh through ninth graders.

Registration forms should be mailed to M.J. Reneau at 156 Breckenridge St., Albany, Texas 76430.

For more information, contact Reneau at 325-762-0351.

The Little Cubs Cheer Camp and junior high cheerleader camp are set for July 25-27. Following Little Cubs sessions in the morning, the junior high cheerleaders will hold their camp in the afternoon in preparation for the new school year.

The Little Cubs Cheer Camp is for 3 years old up to incoming sixth graders.

“This is one of our major fundraisers for the year,” Albany cheerleader sponsor Nickie Leveridge said.

Sessions will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. with instruction by Albany’s varsity and junior high cheerleaders.

“It’s always a fun time for the younger girls,” Leveridge said. “They just love hanging out with the cheerleaders and spending time with them. It definitely puts that love of cheer out there for the little girls.”

Each day of the camp will have a theme – Tie Dye for Monday, Rock & Roll for Tuesday, and Camo Shirt/Uniform for Wednesday. Cheer items will be for sale all three days of the camp.

Camp participants will be asked to perform with their group in August at the Albany Lion Ice Cream Supper.

Cost is $35, with $20 for each additional family member. Registration forms will be available at the Nancy Smith Elementary School office and other locations around town.

Completed forms and payment may be mailed to Albany Cheer attention: Nickie Leveridge, P.O Box 2050, Albany, Texas 76430.
