It is not too late for local girls to register and attend a high school volleyball team summer camp set to start Sunday, according to new head volleyball coach M.J. Reneau.

The three-day camp is open to students entering grades 9-12 who plan to participate in volleyball this season.

The coach said that over 30 prospective JV and varsity players have already signed up for the camp, but registration will remain open until the first session on Sunday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m. The cost of the camp is $40.

Volleyball coach Amelia Reeves will conduct the three-day camp. She was named West Texas Coach of the Year in 2015 and played college volleyball at Harding University.

The first session will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., followed by a 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. session on Monday, July 29. The final meeting will be 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30.

Two-a-day workouts for Albany High School volleyball players will start on Aug. 1 at 6:45 a.m.

“We have a good group of girls who have already turned in their paperwork, but there are a few girls, especially freshmen, who haven’t signed up yet,” Reneau said.

The coach urged all girls planning to participate in high school volleyball to attend.
