Training resumes next week

Local conditioning and sport specific training will resume for the last week of workouts prior to two-a-days for local athletes entering grades 7-12.

The final week of summer conditioning for both boys and girls will start Monday, July 27.

Sessions for the boys are scheduled for 7:00 until 8:30 a.m. on Monday through Thursday.

High school age students wanting to participate in football (sport specific) drills will meet from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday.

On the girls side, strength and conditioning sessions will be held Monday and Tuesday only, according to coach M.J. Reneau. The workouts are planned for 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

In addition, Reneau said that she will be conducting volleyball specific sessions on Wednesday through Friday. Girls who will juniors or seniors will meet from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. each day, while ninth and tenth graders will gather at 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Reneau also announced that the volleyball team camp planned for July 29-31 at the school has been cancelled. She reported that the coach who was going to conduct the camp had to cancel due to a medical situation involving her husband.

Two-a-day practices for volleyball and football are scheduled to start on Monday, Aug. 3.

The UIL announced guidelines on Tuesday for the coming school year, leaving Class 1A-4A schools with the original schedule practices and games.

Dates for Class 5A-6A sports will pushed back into September.
