Albany’s participation at the Lobo Relays on Thursday, March 7 was cut short by thunderstorms at Cisco.

The Lions and Lady Lions return to competition Saturday, March 16 at the Possum Kingdom Relays at Graham.

At Cisco, Albany finished fifth in both boys and girls team standings. The Lions totaled 14 pointswiththeLadyLionsscoring 12. The JV boys were third with 76 points, 52 from relays.

The meet was cut short with field events not being scored and the 3200 not contested.

“They were rushing to get done before the rainstorm came,” boys coach Rod Britting said. “They did some field events, but had coaches from other schools run them off.”

The Lions did post marks in a few field events. Adam Hill, who was again held out of the hurdles races, threw 45 feet, 1 inch in the shot put with Lanxton Viertel going 43-10. Viertel alsothrew110feetinthediscus. Kolt Koemel threw the discus 113 feet with JV thrower Ryan Turner going 84 feet.

In the pole vault, Luke Marshall cleared 12 feet with Breylon Billington and Mason McCloy both clearing 10-6. JV vaulter Braxton Henry cleared 9-0.

On the track, the Lions picked up 10 points in the 400 with Cason Fairchild finishing second and Chip Chambers fifth. Billington was fifth in the 100-meter dash with Jaxson Street fifth in the 200.

For the Lady Lions, Ashlyn Miller was third in the 400 and fourth in the 800. Avery Everitt placed sixth in both hurdles races.

The JV boys won the 1600 relay and placed second in the 400 relay and 800 relay.

Tony Wheeler was second in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 110 hurdles. Jack Nail finished third in the 100 with Sean Keen fourth. Britton Farmer was fifth in the 200.
